Assignment Report

Process and Methods

This assignment required us to utilize the notepad function in order to get the html assignment done. I choose Law Yee Hong (Lawrence) as my teammate (or rather by his suggestion). We had to do most of the work separately as our time-tables did not allow us to meet up much. Still we found some time to meet up to try and get our assignment done.

I started by following the basic html coding that was given, wrote two paragraphs and closed the html. After the paragraphs were complete, Lawrence and I combined our paragraphs and modified some of the text with colors and different texts such as Times New Roman, Verdana and Comic Sans MS. We also added pictures of ourselves and we entered them on the "Bravehost" hosting site and modified the default html file for the site. This enabled the materials we type to appear on our html page. After settling html page, we started on our blog reports.

Technologies Involved

The technologies involved in this whole process were Notepad, Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox, Bravehost.com, the Lab sessions for the Introduction to Internet Tehnologies class and the teamwork that my teammate and I could muster.

HTML Coding

Some of the HTML Codes used were the "font face" and "font color" tags which I primarily used such as Verdana and Times New Roman being the main typefaces. After finishing my two paragraphs, I added colors to certain text such as blue, green, yellow, and red. This was done with the help of a hexadecimal color chart. I also used the 'bold', 'italic' and 'underline' tags to highlight some words that were either "important" or described a certain aspect of myself.

Web Hosting Server

Our lecturer had previously mentioned to us two Web hosting sites "Geocities" and "Bravehost". We decided to use Bravehost because it was more convenient and that another team recommended using the site.

Uploading Files

Uploading to Bravehost was pretty easy and we ran into little complications except slowness in loading the necessary image files into the site. Hence Lawrence and I found out why Bravehost was more preferred by the other team that recommended the site.

Blogging

I'm not a usual blogger and prior to this assignment, I knew nothing about blogging at all. After creating a Google account, I found out that setting up a blog wasn't really that difficult. Getting used to the functions and controls in blogging also took quite some practise but now I'm familiar with some of the basic know-hows of blogging.

Conclusion

In conclusion, I learnt that HTML coding isn't as difficult as I initially thought although it will still take me a while to fully master all the HTML codes. As for blogging, now I am familiar with the basics but I still need more practise. If I could do anything better, I would customize the background of my HTML page instead of leaving it bare. I would also attempt to create moving images via the marquee tag.

  1. HTML - checked!
    Blog - checked!

As I just mentioned to Lawrence, I appreciate your honesty in working on this assignment using your own individual styles, that it shows your part of work and his part of work. Initially I thought it looked 'messy', but then again, the overall is neat and straight-forward, and you've used all the tags I've taught! That's what I wanted, and for that you both get good marks. All the best for the next challenge that you'll surely excel (I hope).
